I found the whole 23 Things to be very rewarding. Opened my eyes to the massive scope of the what you can achieve on line. It has helped me with my skills and awareness of moving around the net.

Podcasts allow you to listen to your favourite radio shows audio and visual program anytime. There are thousands of podcasts to choose from. I finds it great for music for my ipod. You can subscribe to a feed when a new program becomes available and it can be downloaded to the user’s computer. I really enjoy using podcasts.

Second Life – a parallel world

The virtual world is your second life. You name it and you can do it. Buy property, live in your suburbia, live in an apartment, build your home, shop, buy land, meet partners, drive cars, float from world to world just to name a few.

You can design an image of yourself from anything to the girl next door to a cybergoth. Long hair, pink hair, big breasts, tiny waste, designer clothes, shoes and roller blades. You can also present yourself as a non-human creatures – some examples are -: an octopus, bird, spider or some kind of creature without a name.

If a job and career is what your looking for you can experience this in second life as well. Work part time, full time, work for yourself or crossover into real-world business, or any other activity that pays a real-world wage in real-world currency.

An amazing world to tap into with boundless opportunities to become involved with. I have found second life to be a fantastic and an incredible site to discover and do things that are sometimes not so easy to do in real life.

Everyone using or accessing Wiki’s need to decide for themselves if the information is correct considering “anyone can edit” from a 12 year old shool student to a university professor, everyone has editing rights. You would consider that most would be adding sites out of good faith and with billions of people around the world adding and editing wikis, this could prove to be a strength with so much information and ideas at hand.

The progression of Libraries now tending to drift away from the traditional one way service, to a service encouraging feedback and participation, is changing the face of Library Services as we know it. The concept of Library 2.0 is to be able to keep up with the changing needs of Library users, to be able to provide on-line or physical contact if they so desire. The Users can access at home information, entertainment and contribute to their own needs on-line. This is a great way to broaden clientele. For the traditional Library user, their needs can still be met the traditional way if they choose.

I found del.icio.us easy to use and really helpful fo access your on-line favourte sites. The main purpose of del.icio.us is to store your bookmarks on-line. It allows you to access it from any computer and share information with friends and co-workers. You can ‘tag’ your bookmarks by using a one word descriptor that you can assign, to help you remember and organise them.

Create your own homepage with subjects that interest you. You can create your own quick reference to weather, breaking news, sports and You Tube videos book of the day and Wikipedia searches. There is a weath of things you can do with this.

What I have found of really good value was the book previews. The search has actually done a full text search thus saving heaps of time and giving a wider range of books to discover. It tells you where you can buy it and has lots of other pieces of information eg, accommodation in the area, interesting facts in relationship to the area you are enquiring about. Found it a really interesting site to use for searching books of interest.

It lets you Import and Export books into your Library as below and share with friends.

Google docs allows you to create lists, sorted by columns, tables, images, comments and it is totally free.You can share this with your friends so they can access it. You can on the other hand search files owned by friends and workmates. Create spreasheets, use formatting and formulas to edit spreadsheets so you can calculate results. Imports and export presentations. Allows real-time viewing of presentations online from seperate remote locations. Could see this as a great tool if wanting to communicate with people overseas or distances.
